Check out this Beautiful Box Elder I milled today. The crazy red, pink, and orange colors (“flame”) are caused by the trees reaction to stress, injury, or insect damage. The tree produces pigments as a defense mechanism against fungi, like Fusarium species, carried in by bugs. At least that’s what AI says 🤷‍♂️😂😂
