Position Title: Groundsman / CDL Driver / equipment operator/ climber bucket truck operator
Department: Tree Operations
Reports To: Crew Leader / Operations Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Groundsman with a valid CDL and equipment operating experience to join our tree service team. This position plays a critical role in supporting tree removal, pruning, storm cleanup, and site restoration operations. The ideal candidate will have experience operating commercial trucks, trailers, forestry equipment, and working safely around tree crews and heavy machinery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist tree crews with tree removal, trimming, pruning, and cleanup operations.
Operate CDL-required vehicles, including dump trucks, chip trucks, and equipment trailers.
Load, transport, and unload equipment and materials safely.
Operate and maintain equipment such as:
Skid steers
Mini excavators
Chippers
Stump grinders
Loaders and other tree service equipment
Safely direct traffic and establish work zones when required.
Perform daily vehicle and equipment inspections.
Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites.
Assist climbers and equipment operators by managing ropes, rigging, and ground operations.
Follow all OSHA, DOT, and company safety regulations.
Participate in emergency storm response and after-hours work as needed.
Perform basic maintenance and servicing of vehicles and equipment.
Qualifications
Required
Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record.
Minimum 2 years of experience operating commercial vehicles and equipment.
Ability to safely operate skid steers, mini excavators, trailers, and related equipment.
Ability to lift 75+ pounds repeatedly.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to safety.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Preferred
Previous tree service, landscaping, utility, or forestry experience.
Experience towing heavy equipment trailers.
Knowledge of chainsaw operation and maintenance.
First Aid/CPR certification.
Physical Requirements
Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 75 pounds.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and work on uneven terrain for extended periods.
Ability to work around heavy equipment, noise, dust, and adverse weather conditions.
