Domestically quarried marbles are rare. A few exist on the east coast and smaller deposits have been found in other areas of the United States. Many will be surprised to find out that 3 unique colors being quarried in Arizona are now available on the market. Tucked away in Southeast Arizona’s Chiricahua Mountains in Cochise County is the 110 year old Arizona Marble Company quarry. The marble depos

it is expansive, covering over 320 acres. The quarry was established in 1908 and thrived for years before eventually ceasing in 1937. In 2002, the quarry was purchased by the Klump family who had a vision to bring this highly prized material back into the market. In 2013, modern quarrying techniques were established and new ground has been broken. They quarry 3 unique colors. Arizona Statuario, Arizona Ash, and Apache Blue. The chemical analysis of this marble shows that it contains 99.9% calcium carbonate. Absorption is nearly null at .00010 and its crushing strength impeccable at 12,000 lbs per square inch. No weakness is present at the veins which is very rare among other marbles similar in pattern. Because of its quality and purity, very large blocks are able to be quarried. Some reaching over 275 cubic feet with 10 foot by 6 foot slabs. The marble is sold as raw blocks, in standard tile and slab sizes, and for custom cut to size projects.
