This morning’s work.

The dahlias are just showing off at this point and I’m not mad about it.

This morning was all about chipping away at the list for giveaway winners and making sure the subscription friends are guaranteed to have a happy weekend.

We are spending the weekend celebrating two of our favorite guys, so I’ll be birthday partying for the next few days.

Next week is shaping up to be full of beauty, as well. I’ll see you then. 🫶

School has started.
The days are getting shorter and cooler.
Football is on.
Combines are being prepped.
The bugs are working hard to prepare for winter.

We are winding down.
I’m happy and sad.
Working hard to just sit in the goodness of the season.

🌸Peacock House Flowers Honors: 🌸

WEEK 4

I am continually amazed by the incredible people that are part of our communities. This is a way to give back to them. While I would love to able to give flowers to every deserving person, I’d never reach the end of the list. But with your help, we gonna make a dent in it!

Here’s how this works.

Each week, for the next 4ish weeks, we will celebrate those who we love, are inspired by, respect, or want to lift up. Each week there will be 4 categories that you can nominate people for. Winners of each category will be chosen at random and will receive a bouquet from me.

The categories for nomination are as follows:

💐 1: Educators: teacher, principal, professor, substitute, para…you name it…it counts.

💐 2. Medical Professionals: doctors, nurses, surgeons, CNA, housekeeping staff, EMTs, etc.

💐 3. Moms: your mom, your kids’ mom, a mom you know or look up to. Honor them for the often thankless job they do.

💐 4. Anyone else: your mentor, your best friend, your enemy, your crush, your true love. Someone who needs a pick me up?

Your job: leave a comment with the number (1-4) of the category you are nominating the person for. Put their name, and tell them why you are nominating them (why you appreciate them, why they are amazing or inspiring, why you want to bless them). Write it to tell them why they are deserving, don’t just tell me.

💐Let’s get down to the Nitty Gritty 💐
(if you don’t know what movie that is from, I don’t know if we can be friends).
- each person can only win once.
- you can nominate a person for each category
- you can nominate a person each week.
- winners must live within 30 miles of Williams, IA, or you must be willing to get flowers to them. (I can make Ames and Fort Doge work, too).

So, nominate away! Nominations for this round close at 11:59pm on Saturday.

Life isn’t always easy, but God is always kind.

My week has been a tad rocky and I hit “the wall” today.

If you know anything about distance running, you know that “the wall” often refers to a place where you feel like you can’t go on anymore. Physically, you have reached your max and you have to rely on mental toughness to carry you along.

I found myself reaching the flower wall today. Just a lot of hard stuff, getting started late, not being super happy with the quality of some stuff I was cutting, stabbing myself in the leg with my clippers, late season exhaustion…it was all a lot.

I almost gave up.

I had a lot of (legitimate) reasons I could have sat this one out.

But I as I stared at the buckets of good flowers I had, as I thought about the gift of stewarding this land, I felt like I owed it to them to do what I could.

So we did what we could.

It ended up being a great night.

I got to see some really special people, share flowers with others, and spend time with my amazing kids (who are absolute rockstar helpers). So many things I would have missed, had I not pushed through the wall.

Tonight a dear friend told me that both my flowers and I have come a long way over the years.

And she is right.

And I’m really proud of that.

I don’t know what season you are in or what walls you are facing. But in the midst of it, I hope you find people to love you well and cheer you on.
And I hope you know how proud of you I am.
You are gonna go far.
One step at a time. 💜

Thank you, as always, to Webster City for your love and support.

“Each seed of goodness we plant grows roots deep enough to hold the world steady.”
- Carlos Wallace

This quote encapsulates why I have always been enamored with Jesus.
The ultimate example of goodness and hope.
The one who brings peace.
May we know Him and be like Him.

Happy Sunday, friends.
