After my turtle post earlier today - I was at a clients house this afternoon and noticed a Coastal Cooter turtle laying her eggs in the St John’s Wort we planted! A beauty!!! She covered them up and went on her way. In this case I told them to lay protection over the nest site so no one steps on it.

It is officially turtle time! Please drive slowly and with open eyes! If you see one that needs to cross the road you can help move it in the direction it was headed. If you find one injured you can contact your local wildlife rehab center. Turtles are precious and we have destroyed so much of their habitat. Be kind to turtles! Each one counts!

While waiting for a call back:

DO secure the animal in a ventilated box/container with a lid (no peeking to reduce stress)

DO keep the animal warm

DO keep the box in a dark, quiet location away from kids and pets

DO NOT give food or water

This guy was a lucky one! He got a lift across the road at a bad curve!
