Apparently I’m posting on my business page for the first time in nearly three years. So I guess business is so good I no longer feel the need to post anything business related …

And today is no different. I’m very happy to say that I was selected a few months ago to run the Chicago Marathon via their lottery system. This is after running last year through one of their many official charities after being denied a spot. I found the experience last year very humbling and rewarding. As a member of Team Determination, I was able to help contribute to the team raising over $2 million for the American Cancer Society from that race alone. So when I was fortunate enough to get back into the marathon this year , I once again asked to be allowed to run for them. And they were kind enough to let me back in.

Whether or not I raised a dime would have no impact on me running Chicago. I already have a guaranteed entry. However, I want to once again use this opportunity to raise money and awareness for such a wonderful cause and do my part to defeat cancer. Attached below is a link to my fundraising page. To folks that might wonder if I’ve fallen off the face of the earth, since I haven’t updated this page or answered my work phone in a very long time… I can assure you I am very much alive! And still painting, pressure washing, doing light carpentry…

For years I had hoped to grow my painting business. Finding the work was never an issue, but finding the help - especially good help - has always been an issue. So this year I decided to throw in the towel, admit defeat, and just do things on my own, while giving more attention to other projects important to me, such as my own house!

Attached below are some pictures from my own house. My wife and I purchased it in 2018, but until this year I have put any repairs on the back burner to other projects I had going on. So while I usually highlight other projects I’ve done for the business, here’s something I can take pride in every day when I come home. New windows, siding, trim, paint, etc.

If you are looking for any painting work, pressure washing, light carpentry… please keep me in mind. While I’ve pretty much done away with my work phone, I can still be reached on here or by email.

Also, if you’re wonder how in the world did I manage to do such a great job removing those rotted bay windows, reframing the empty spaces, and hanging new ones, well…the truth is I had some help. A long overdue posting

I am posting a link on my business page to the Fuller Center “Global Builders” for those that might be interest in joining Angelique Kirkpatrick and I, October 23 -31, to help build homes in El Salvador. Prior to COVID, this was never necessary due to the ease of travel and the amount of willing volunteers. This I believe is one of the first trips scheduled since COVID and it’s in danger of being cancelled.

Fuller Center operates the same way as Habitat for Humanity. In fact, I think they were both founded by the same person. They build homes for those who qualify financially for a no-interest loan and can guarantee a certain amount of time to help build not only their home, but others as well. This is a county where the average income is roughly $100/month and is by far the poorest country in Central America. When you help them, not only will you have the satisfaction of helping others, but you will gain a better appreciation for everything you have here. It is not an understatement to say that when you help them, you will be looked at as heaven sent.

We recently invested in a new sprayer for the sole purpose of spraying cabinets. Not that there was anything wrong with the way we did them before, but this allows us to use lacquer which will give them that factory finish. It’s a harder finish than people are used to and it’s as smooth as silk!

My current work from home project
