When I got on site this k**b had a busted spindle and kept falling off on every use. It wasn’t your typical spindle that you can find readily available so I had to smith it and restore it. The mortise cylinder lock was the wrong size and had started failing no longer throwing the latch. I got that taken care of and now this old estate lock can have decades more use.

Having trouble getting your key to turn your old lock? 🔑
Having to wiggle and jiggle the key or maybe it’s sticking and won’t move?

Overtime the pins inside your locks wear down and same with the grooves of your keys. That wear can cause sticking, hard turning, and eventually complete lock failure.

Before the lock completely fails, I can rekey the lock with fresh pins and cut new keys to bring it back to smooth operation — often without needing to replace the entire lock.

The lock pictured below is an old Yale lock commonly found on homes around this area. I was able to rekey it so the homeowner can get many more years of reliable use out of it.

The back door also had an old rim lock with a loose failing cylinder that used a separate key. I replaced it with a new Yale rim cylinder and now both doors work on the same key and the home is secure again.
