A little piece of electrical history came home with us today.
One of our amazing customers gave us this old Trumbull Electric motor starting switch, and we couldn’t help but appreciate how far the electrical trade has come.
Trumbull Electric Manufacturing Company began building electrical equipment in Plainville, Connecticut all the way back in 1899. This old 3-pole motor switch was built for serious industrial service, rated up to 600 volts, and represents a time when electrical equipment was made heavy, simple, and built to last.
As electricians, we spend most of our time installing the newest equipment and bringing older electrical systems up to modern standards, but every once in a while it’s pretty special to hold a piece of the history that helped build our trade.
A huge thank you to our customer for giving this to us. It’ll definitely have a place in the Eel River Electric collection.
