Great projects don’t happen in silos.

We had the opportunity to spend a few days in Wilmington, North Carolina, with our friends at Live Oak Bank — Claire Cronin, Jacqueline Pait, and Brandy Keck — working on a very special project that we can’t say too much about just yet.

What we can say is this: if your project involves launching, renovating, building, or expanding a business, bringing the right team together early matters.

Lending and construction are not two separate conversations that happen at different times. They work best when they move together from the beginning. Financing, site planning, design, budgeting, timelines, and construction strategy all impact one another — and when the right people are at the table early, the entire project has a stronger foundation.

We’re grateful for vendor relationships that feel like true partnerships — and even better, friendships.

Stay tuned… more to come soon.

At TWC, one of our core values is simple: We Learn.

This week, our team had the opportunity to learn directly from CaptiveAire as they brought their mobile Paragon rooftop unit truck to our office. Seeing the system operate in real time gave us valuable insight into build quality, monitoring capabilities, lead times, startup support, and long-term performance.

The more we learn, the better we build for our clients.

We had a great time at the 2026 ACVIM Forum!

TWC was proud to participate as a vendor and Silver Sponsor, with our booth set up in the Exhibit Hall on Thursday and Friday. We enjoyed connecting with so many veterinarians, specialists, and industry professionals who stopped by to visit with our team and learn more about our work in veterinary and specialty hospital construction.

On Saturday, we were also honored to be part of a speaking event alongside Live Oak Bank, Siemens, and MedWest Realty. The presentation, “Knowledge Expedition: Navigating Construction, Design, and Financing Challenges for Specialty Hospital Design,” focused on helping veterinarians better understand the process of starting and developing a specialty hospital.

The session featured Dr. Fred Wininger as the primary presenter, along with Will Frazier of Live Oak Bank, Kelly TerWisscha and Tim Parsons with TWC, Maribelle Velasco of MedWest Realty, and Jason Miller of Siemens.

Starting a specialty hospital can feel overwhelming, especially when it comes to construction, design, financing, and project planning. This discussion helped break down those challenges, highlight common pitfalls, and share practical strategies for moving a project forward with confidence.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth or joined us for the presentation. We appreciated the conversations, connections, and opportunity to be part of this year’s ACVIM Forum!

First impressions matter.

For many pet owners, the lobby is their first experience with a veterinary practice. It's where nervous pets arrive, where families wait for answers, and where relationships begin.

At Snake River Veterinary Center , the reception and lobby area was designed to create a welcoming experience from the moment clients walk through the door. The open floor plan, natural light, warm wood accents, and spacious seating area help create an environment that feels calm, comfortable, and approachable.

Behind the reception desk, the layout also supports the team serving clients every day—providing efficient workflows while maintaining clear visibility throughout the space.

The result is a lobby that balances function and hospitality, helping both clients and staff feel at ease from the moment they arrive.

Project Highlight: Snake River Veterinary Center | Fruitland, Idaho

Growth creates opportunity.

What began as a small veterinary practice in Payette has grown alongside the communities it serves for decades. In March 2024, Snake River Veterinary Center Snake River Veterinary Center took the next step in that journey with a new, purpose-built facility designed to support both exceptional patient care and a growing team.

Located in Fruitland, Idaho, this 6,557-square-foot hospital was thoughtfully designed to serve the needs of companion animals, livestock owners, and equine clients throughout the region—all while preserving the personal, compassionate approach that has defined the practice from the beginning.

For TerWisscha Construction, projects like this are about more than square footage. They're about helping veterinary teams create environments that support their people, their patients, and their vision for the future.

We're excited to take you inside Snake River Veterinary Center over the coming weeks and share some of the spaces that help make this facility work so well.

We're excited to be heading to ACVIM Forum 2026 in Seattle, June 11–13, where specialty veterinary professionals from across the country gather to advance patient care, share knowledge, and explore what's next in specialty medicine.

On Saturday, June 13, we're honored to join an exceptional panel for:
"Knowledge Expedition: Navigating Construction, Design, and Financing Challenges for Specialty Hospital Design"

Featuring:
• Fred A. Wininger, VMD, MS, DACVIM (Neurology) — The Animal Neurology Center
• William Frazier — Live Oak Bank
• Kelly TerWisscha | Tim Parsons — TerWisscha Construction
• Jason Miller — Siemens Healthineers
• Maribel Velasco -- MedWest Realty

Together, we'll explore the realities of developing and expanding specialty hospitals—from financing and facility programming to workflow design, advanced imaging integration, and long-term growth planning.

As specialty medicine continues to evolve, facilities must be designed to support sophisticated diagnostics, advanced procedures, efficient teams, and future growth. This session is designed to provide practical insights from professionals who help bring those visions to life every day.

If you're attending ACVIM Forum, we'd love to connect and continue the conversation.

Step 2: Design Development — where your vision starts to take shape.

This is where ideas move beyond concepts and into real, functional plans. During Design Development, we work closely with our clients to refine layouts, test workflows, and make informed decisions that impact how the space will operate day-to-day.

Because great floorplans aren’t just designed—they’re built around how your business actually runs.

By focusing on details early, we help reduce surprises, improve efficiency, and create a smoother path into construction.

The result? A business that doesn’t just look good—but performs from day one.

Every great facility starts with listening.

During our DDA sessions for Pet Resort at Stonehouse (the future location of the team at The Pet Resort at Greensprings) we spent time understanding Jeff and Jill's vision, goals, and plans for growth before diving into design decisions.

That same level of intentionality extended beyond the conference room. One evening, Jeff and Jill gave our team a tour of the historic Jamestown settlement, sharing the stories, character, and history that make their community unique. Experiences like these help us better understand the people we serve and the environment their business is part of.

When we understand how a business operates—and the community it serves—we can help create a facility that supports both the pets in their care and the people walking through the doors every day.

That's the power of our DDA process. 🐾

Recently, our team traveled to Williamsburg, Virginia for a combined DDA 1 & 2 session with the owners of The Pet Resort at Stonehouse, the future second location of The Pet Resort at Greensprings . 🐾

Over the course of several days, our team worked alongside the owners to make important decisions related to design, finishes, operations, guest experience, and long-term business strategy. By combining both DDA sessions into one intensive visit, the project made tremendous progress and the vision for the facility really began to take shape.

But what exactly happens during a DDA? What kinds of decisions are being made? And how do those conversations impact the success of a facility years down the road?

Stay tuned, we'll take you behind the scenes of the Pet Resort at Stonehouse DDA experience and share more about the process, the people, and the planning that goes into creating a successful pet care facility.
