It is and hourly position that pays between $19.00 - $22.00 per hour plus overtime. It is full-time, Monday through Friday with hours being 7 am-3:30 pm.

Happy Easter!

The Cape Fear area is experiencing some dry weather, Unfortunately, this dry weather coincides with grass green-up. We recommend watering 1-2X's per week for 30-40 minutes per zone until we get into a wetter weather pattern. This amount of irrigation is needed to aid the lawns coming out of dormancy.

Also, scalping your lawn (all grass types) very very short will help the lawn green-up faster.

Here in the Cape fear region, It is time to scalp your lawn very short. This should be done for all grass types in our area - bermuda, centipede, st. augustine and zoysia.

Todd's Lawn and Landscape Care recommends scalping your lawn very very short for 3 main reasons:
1. It cleans up the lawn and helps remove the old dormant
material.
2. By removing old dormant grass, the sun will be able to warm
up the soils faster. Old dormant grass and other winter debris
will act as an insulator and keep soil temperatures cooler.
3. It stimulates the grass to begin spring growth. The scalping
combined with warming soil temperatures will help your lawn
have a more uniform and faster green-up.

The weather in the cape fear region is warming up!

I have been out on many landscapes and it seems most of the winter damage is confined to just a few types of plants. Of course, we will not know the full extent of the damage until later in the spring after plants begin their spring growth.

Distylium, sago palms and oleanders are the plants that seem to have had the most winter damage.

Now is a great time to inspect your irrigation system for a couple of reasons.
1. Systems should be inspected and adjusted on an annual basis. Irrigation heads get damaged or knocked out of line during the year as heavy equipment moves around the lawn. Landscapes mature and as the plants grow they begin to block the coverage of the irrigation spray.
2. Irrigation companies are not as busy during winter months and getting appointments scheduled can be easier.
3. Many irrigation companies offer a yearly maintenance plan. This plan often includes a yearly inspection, priority scheduling and it reduces problems/breaks in the system.

Todd's Lawn and Landscape Care (TLC) does not recommend irrigating lawns now. We recommend to start irrigating once the soil temperatures warm and the grass begins to green-up/grow, usually some time in April.

Spring is here so lets put our team together!

There are 3 main factors needed to have a healthy beautiful lawn and landscape:

1. A good environment. This includes the correct turf grass. It's important to promote the correct turf for your landscape environment, whether its St Augustine grass because you have a lot of shade or bermuda/zoysia because you have a lot of sun. Mother Nature also plays an important role in providing a good environment which includes the right amount of sunshine or rain throughout the year.

2. Good cultural practices. This includes proper watering and mowing. With our sandy soils, good irrigation will be critical during certain dry weather periods throughout the year. Weekly mowing, mowing at the correct height and keeping your mower blades sharp are 3 critical practices for maintaining a healthy lawn.

3. Todd's Lawn and Landscape Care (TLC). We will provide your lawn and landscape with a program that will promote healthy turf/plants while minimizing w**ds. By using TLC, you will also get the guidance and expertise to be sure you are following good cultural practices and managing the environment correctly to promote healthy growth.
