Customer had sewage backing up into their finished basement. Told us the tank was pumped a few years ago and was had a new tank and leaching system installed in the last 5-6 years. Prior contractor was not retiring their call for help….

We arrived and located the tank 3+ ft deep with a high liquid level and packed with solids, Inlet t baffle broken off, main line pushing up on the septic tank, no flow out to the leaching system, d-box full of sludge with piping completely disconnected from the leaching system and a list of issues with the leaching system.

Due to the sloppy installation, this system is likely nearing the end of its short life. For the short term, we cleared the blockage, replaced the main waste line, pumped the tank, serviced the filter, installed risers and lids, investigated the leaching system and repaired the d-box outlet piping to the leaching system.

This is a very good example of “cheaper is not better”. Hire fully vetted, licensed/ insured and reputable companies.
