We painted this door with Viking linseed oil paint 10 years ago. We made the doors in our shop, and painted them with the red oxide color. (We did not paint the white - that is conventional ‘plastic’ paint.) Not only does the red door still look beautiful but the wood is still protected from the elements and only needs minimal cleaning with linseed oil soap. I’ve just finished cleaning the two right boards and applied some raw linseed oil to bring back the paint sheen. There is absolutely no peeling ,and these doors have been neglected in an uninhabited house since. Linseed oil paint, while a bit more technical to use, is far superior to conventional petrochemical paints. We use Ottosson typically, and there are other good companies making the same - Braun, Viking, and Allback are all excellent.
