Don’t overlook the little jobs… because they can make a big difference!

This property had very overgrown landscaping, sinkholes throughout the front yard, and just some trash from over the years that needed to be cleaned up. The property owner wanted everything trimmed up, looking nice to open up the property to look more inviting. It’s amazing what a little bit of work can do to completely change the look of a property.

A lot of people think we only take on the bigger excavation and hardscape projects anymore, but that’s not the case. We truly enjoy helping the homeowners with the smaller projects as well. In fact, many of our biggest opportunities have come from taking care of the little things and earning referrals from word-of-mouth.

Sometimes the biggest difference in a retaining wall is what you cannot see.

The wall in the first photograph was started by another contractor. Before the project was even completed, the homeowners realized something did not seem right and made the decision to stop the work before continuing forward. That is when they called us.

Rather than trying to build on top of what was already there, we completely dismantled the unfinished wall and rebuilt from the ground up. A retaining wall is only as good as its foundation, drainage system, and installation and we were not willing to compromise any of that.

The finished result is a wall the homeowners can feel confident with for years to come. If you are investing in a retaining wall, make sure it is built correctly the first time. Proper base preparation, drainage, and installation make all the difference.

A good before & after will always get attention, but what we love most about jobs like this is seeing someone actually enjoy their property again afterwards. The smile on their face once it’s finished is always our favorite!

Our landscaping crew took care of a good friend of ours whose lawn was completely being overtaken by thistles, weeds, and rough grass. We came in, scraped the area, hauled everything away, regraded the lawn, put down fresh seed and straw, then installed a new landscape bed along the building to clean everything up. We eventually have to dig an electrical line so we left room for that too.

One thing I hear all the time is, “We didn’t think you guys did smaller jobs.”

Truthfully, we don’t look at jobs as “small” or “big.” Every property and every customer has different needs, and every job matters to the person who owns it. Whether it’s a massive excavation project or helping someone get their yard back under control, we take pride in all of it.

At the end of the day, we just love helping bring properties back to life and creating friendship with each project we complete 🌱

She’s not only one of the people helping run the show here at A&H… but she’s also the one running the home, juggling the chaos, taking care of our little guy, and helping raise the future of A&H every single day.
