Fire Safety Reminder: Check Your Smoke Alarms!

When was the last time you tested your smoke alarms? It’s easy to forget, but these small devices can save lives in an emergency. Here’s a quick checklist to ensure your home is fire-safe:

1. Test Monthly: Press the test button on each alarm. If it beeps, you’re good! If not, replace the batteries or the unit itself.
2. Change Batteries Annually: Even if your alarms are working, swap out the batteries once a year to avoid any surprise malfunctions.
3. Replace Every 10 Years: Smoke alarms don’t last forever. Check the back of the device for the manufacture date. If it’s over 10 years old, it’s time for a replacement.
4. Install Alarms in Key Areas: Ensure you have alarms on every level of your home, inside bedrooms, and outside sleeping areas.
