Mature trees need deep, infrequent watering to encourage strong, healthy roots. Frequent shallow watering often keeps moisture near the surface, where it does little for established trees.

One of the biggest mistakes we see each summer is homeowners watering too close to the trunk instead of out near the drip line, where most of the absorbing roots are located.
