British Racing Green Metallic (BMW895)⚡Contemporary Nitro.

When it comes to British Racing Green, it can vary quite a bit. There are several interpretations of the color ranging from deep, almost black green to a lighter, more vibrant forest green in tone.

Also, depending on the specific shade—or automotive reference—the final color can either lean more blue, yellow, or neutral green character.

This particular version of British Racing Green is a medium-dark green with a noticeable blue/teal undertone, giving it a deep, slightly jewel-like appearance.

The color shifts between a darker forest green and a richer blue-green depending on the lighting. Quite the posh take on this color!

Aged Lake Placid Blue⚡Heritage Nitro, VOS Gloss with Light Distressing and Medium Amber.

This Lake Placid Blue refinish received a few coats of Amber over it—greening it out rather nicely, as our client requested!

The last photo in the spread shows the Lake Placid Blue color, before getting ambered. Quite a difference.

Add in some VOS treatment to soften the sheen, along with light distressing and checking to give it a naturally played-in look.

Can't wait to get pictures back from our client of this beauty re-assembled!

Aged Deep Lilac Pearl⚡Heritage Nitro, VOS Gloss with Light Distressing.

This is one of Kip's personal Strats—which he likes to use as a test subject every now and again.

For this go-around, he stripped off it's Sunburst finish and went with a bold, Deep Lilac Pearl metallic color—an instant favorite for how rich the Purple gets under the light, then deepens dramatically as the light falls away.

Touched with a bit of our “VOS” treatment and some light aging, just to see how the color responds to a coat of Amber and a little gentle punishment... 😍 It looks absolutely spectacular!

All strung up and assembled, this thing came together beautifully.

Get this color while it lasts! Once we run out, it goes back to being a special-order color.

Though, if there's enough demand for it, maybe we’ll make it a standard color option! 😎

Aged Black w/ White Stinger⚡Heritage Nitro, VOS Gloss⚡Light Distressing

This ’64 Gibson Byrdland came into the shop with a splotchy, dark brown finish that didn't resonate with the owner. We were asked to strip and refinish it in solid black, with an aged white stinger added to the back of the headstock to match the binding and heel cap.

The plastics on this Byrdland definitly showed their age. So, to make the finish feel more appropriate, we gave it the VOS treatment and a bit of distressing, to bake in some time-worn character.

After all was said and done, this thing came out looking like a true classic. Can't beat these ol' birds!

Faded "Bloomfield-esque" Dark Burst⚡Contemporary Nitro⚡Top Only Refinish.

We got this Les Paul in from Eddie 9V needing a top only refin. Originally a standard Cherry Burst finish, he wasn't too excited about the color—or the fact that the flame in the Maple felt dead under the factory finish.

We stripped the top and worked our magic on the Maple—giving it the rock-star treatment and dialing this thing up to 11!

Safe to say he was blown away... His response: “Hot damn, I love it!!!!!! You can see the flame so much better!”

Aged Dapper Blue⚡Heritage Nitro, VOS Gloss with Light Distressing.

This ’86 Ibanez RG440 "Roadstar II" came in with a pretty gnarly black-and-red crackle refin on it. The client wanted it stripped off and resprayed in blue—he just hadn’t landed on which blue yet.

We sat down with him here at the shop and went through a few different options, eventually landing on our Dapper Blue—a slightly bluer take on Daphne Blue.

Top it off with a hint of Amber in the top coat, some light distressing, and this Roadstar is back in business!

Here’s a quick look at Pincrest Green Metallic, fresh from the spray booth. It’s a soft, muted green that shifts quite a bit between silver and green, depending on the light.

For this project, we’re using it as the base beneath an Olive Green Flake finish. What you’re seeing is the color straight off the gun—dried to the touch and ready for flake.

While it hasn’t been cleared or polished, it gives you a good sense of the color and how it would look in a matte or satin finish.

When cleared, buffed, and polished, it brings out a little more depth in the green tones. Add a bit of amber and some relicing, and it makes for a pretty cool finish.

⚡Black w/ Natural Back⚡Heritage Nitro, VOS Gloss with Medium-Heavy Distressing.

This ’52 Les Paul has already lived more than one life.

Converted to ’57 specs and previously refinished in Goldtop, it came to us ready for its next chapter: a classic Black top, Natural back, and just the right amount of tasteful distressing.

A full strip and refinish later, and it looks every bit as timeless and rockin' as it should.

The Mrs and I took a quick trip up to where I had the pleasure of finally getting to Carmine Street Guitars and meeting the owner Rick Kelly. He entertained me with really great stories of where the ancient wood for his guitars is sourced as well as some fascinating stories of old New York! What a cool shop! Go if you’re in the area! Also met Frank Rooster Inzerillo who was picking up some cases to do artwork on, what a day! Thank you so much for the hospitality, sir!
