Before & After ⚡1960s Stratocaster Refinish⚡Aged Aztec Gold

As promised, here are a few “before” photos of the Strat we recently refinished in Aged Aztec Gold.

It came in with an older refinish that our client jokingly dubbed “Pumpkin Burst.” An interesting look, for sure—and one that could’ve been pretty cool with the right ex*****on.

The first three photos show the front, back, and neck before the refinish. The last three show the finished result—of which you can see more photos of in our previous posts.

Aged Aztec Gold ⚡️ Heritage Nitro, VOS finish ⚡️ Medium-Light Distressing

A '60s Strat, brought back to life—in all it's golden, weathered, glory!

This one came in with a previous refinish that had definitly seen better days... which our client absolutelty did not want to keep!

We stripped the neck and body down to bare wood, then got to work giving this old Strat a new lease-on-life with a classic color and a time-worn look!

When all was said and done, the client had this to say, "It looks absolutely killer!!!" ... and we agree. 😎

The color of your grain filler can make a big difference in the final look of your finish—from a classic, understated appearance to a more pronounced grain pattern that really highlights the character of the wood.

Here are two Ash Jazz Bass bodies, one with an ash-toned filler and the other with a dark, walnut-toned filler.

Both will be getting transparent finishes: a subtle brown burst over the ash-toned filler and a trans-white finish over the dark filler—each allowing the wood to shine in it's own way.

This same idea applies to "Doghair" finishes, too... but that's a whole other beast!

Fire Red Pearl Metallic and Candy Apple Red

Two metallics that are very close in color and shimmer—but one is a single-stage, the other a Candy over a base coat.

We offer Fire Red Pearl as the “less expensive” alternative to Candy Apple Red—but by no means is it any less gorgeous!

Ch*****ne Gold Sparkle⚡Heritage Nitro, VOS Gloss⚡Light Distressing

This Firebird came to us in its factory To***co Burst finish—nice in its own right, but it just wasn’t the look our client was vibing with anymore.

So, we stripped it down to raw wood and gave it a whole new look: Ch*****ne Gold Sparkle, with just a touch of aging and distressing to add some grit to the glam.

Reassembled and dialed in—this Firebird is ready to fly again.
