🔥 Alternative Heating Safety Reminder 🔥

As colder weather sets in, many homes rely on space heaters and other alternative heating sources. Unfortunately, this is also the time of year when we see a rise in fires related to unsafe heater use.

Recently, a local department responded to a fire involving a space heater that highlights how quickly these situations can escalate when heaters are placed too close to combustible items, plugged into overloaded outlets, or left unattended.

Please take a moment to review the safety tips in the graphic below and do what you can now to ensure your heating setup is safe:
• Keep heaters at least 3 feet from anything that can burn
• Plug heaters directly into a wall outlet
• Never leave heaters unattended or running while sleeping
• Use heaters that are properly certified and in good condition

Taking a moment to consider a few simple precautions can make a significant difference in keeping your home and family safe this winter.
