If you’re thinking about aerating your lawn, not all aerators are created equal.

There’s a big difference between a spike aerator (the kind that just pokes holes in the ground) and a core aerator.

A spike aerator simply pushes soil aside to make a hole. While that might seem helpful, it can actually increase compaction around the hole over time.

A core aerator, on the other hand, pulls a plug of soil out of the ground. This process creates real space in the soil, allowing it to decompress. That’s the key difference.

We trimmed up these trees to improve their shape, health, and overall appearance — and removed several stumps from the flowerbed area.
