I never EVER get into politics on this page, but now im compelled.
The VA legislature has introduced a bill to apply sales tax to previously exempt services. This will apply a 4.3% sales tax to a constellation of services from dry cleaning to home repairs. This would mean that a $1000 home repair bill would cost an additional $43 in sales tax.
Please call your state rep and senator TODAY, TOMORROW, and THE NEXT DAY until they vote against this bill!
In 2024, VA government ran a surplus. So why do we need MORE taxes? HB978 will make a variety of services we use every day more expensive. House cleaning, landscaping, auto repairs, just to name a few. Many of these, like auto repairs, can push into the thousands of dollars, which will mean a tax of nearly $100 for a single repair.
