For the past three days the leaders from Monarch Landscape Companies held our third annual mangers meeting. The managers discussed the status of the company, where we are going in the future, the initiatives to help us reach our goals and how we can continue to come together to be the best place to work for landscape professionals.

We implemented a late start time this morning, so that we could gather as many of our field team as possible for a Mexico vs Brazil ' soccer watch party'. Unfortunately the game didn't produce the results we were hoping for, but fun was had by all! A few of the guys even wore wigs in support of team Mexico players dying their hair blond. :-)

We had a fun time hosting a hole at the BOMA golf tournament last Monday, June 11th at the Newcastle Golf Club. Great to see alot of familiar faces!

NLS/Signature Landscape (Monarch) manages the landscape maintenance for Microsoft’s Corporate Headquarters in Redmond, Washington, a 7 million square foot property where the landscape has become an attraction and beloved amenity among Microsoft’s employees. How we are building our team for the Microsoft account is just as rewarding for our local teams as working on such a distinguished property. In 2009, we introduced a Supported Employment Program for hiring qualified individuals with special needs. Schedules and tasks are designed to accommodate the special needs and skills of these team members. Monarch, Microsoft, our Supported Employment team and their families have all found tremendous value in this program. Today, this group makes up 25% of our Microsoft Maintenance team. We believe that when people are hired into jobs that match their interests and abilities, and have support, they can become successful, productive workers. Having fulfilling employment promotes independence and helps people with disabilities become fully integrated members of the community.

Our own Gabe Phillips, Account Manager at Microsoft, just returned from Potrero Chico, Mexico where he scaled the side of a cliff! These unique geological formations of limestone cliffs & spires rise as high as 2,000 feet.

The CA Day Tradeshow held this last Saturday, September 23rd at the WA State Convention Center, was a great success! It was fun seeing some familiar faces, as well as some new ones. Thanks CAI!

A nice thank you note we just received in the mail:

Several days ago, I lost my wallet not knowing where exactly. Already I imagined how much trouble I will have to go through to replace my documents and credit cards. I understood that personal valuables would never be recovered.
As I walked to my house I was asked by a gentleman named Pedro whether I was looking for my wallet. He said he left it at the door of my home.
I can not express my gratitude enough to Pedro for his honesty and humbleness. And thank you for having such amazing employees.
