Heads up, Woodland! The “No-See-Ums” are out and ready to get ya!

No, we’re not talking about a secret spy agency—those tiny, nearly invisible biting gnats (aka no-see-ums) are out in full forcerce, and no one’s ankles aren’t safe!

These little nuisances may be small, but their bites pack a surprisingly itchy punch.

Here’s how to fight the bite.

Repel and protect: Use insect repellents with DEET or picaridin.
Cover up: Long sleeves, pants, and socks are your best defense when venturing outdoors—especially around dusk.
Screen check: Make sure your window screens are in good shape (they’re tiny, remember?).
Itch relief: If you do get bitten, stop by Corner Drug! We’ve got sarna lotion, hydrocortisone and friendly advice to help you heal without scatching all night.

Don't forget about your fuzzy friends during the heat! Ground surfaces warm up more than the air above it, and if it's too hot for you, it's too hot for your pet's little paws! Consider walking your animals earlier in the day, before the ground has had a chance to heat up.
