Most people think ice dams start on the roof. They don’t. They start in the attic.

When warm air escapes from your home into the attic, it heats the roof from underneath. That heat melts moisture on the roof surface. As the water moves down to the colder edges, it refreezes and creates a barrier. From there, water can work its way under shingles and into insulation, ceilings, and walls.

This is where hidden damage begins. Stains on ceilings, wet insulation, and moisture that can quietly turn into mold if ignored.

In many cases, the roofing material is not the real problem. The issue is heat escaping where it shouldn’t. Proper insulation, air sealing, and ventilation are what protect the structure long term.

At ARAC Roof It Forward, we do not just look at the surface. We look at the full system to make sure your home is protected the right way.

Happy National Pizza Day 🍕

If loving pizza is wrong, I don’t want to be right.

Fun fact… your roof and a pizza have a lot in common. Both have layers, both protect what’s underneath, and both will absolutely ruin your day if they fall apart unexpectedly. The only difference is you actually want extra toppings on your pizza.

Georgia sun, wind, and storms beat up roofs the same way a group of hungry friends beat up a fresh pizza. Most people don’t realize there’s a problem until it’s already too late.

So enjoy your pizza today. And if you haven’t had your roof checked in a while, message me. I’ll make sure the only thing you’re stressing about is whether to get pepperoni or extra cheese.
