Ever wondered why regular maintenance on your pondless waterfall is worth every penny?

This job was a perfect reminder: you get what you pay for. We pulled out a bargain-bin pump that constantly clogged, starving the waterfall of flow and causing non-stop headaches for the owner. How to spot a waterfall leak before it causes big problems:

When your water level drops rapidly, the waterfall or stream is often the prime suspect. We inspect behind the rocks, check the liner folds, and peel back the layers to find where the water is sneaking out.

Pro tip: Check low edges and liner seam separations first! That’s usually where water escapes!

That dark, spooky sludge at the bottom? It's called mulm. Essentially, organic pond soup. Delicious for beneficial bacteria, slightly less great when it takes over the whole pond. Time for a deep clean!

Note: Proper acclimatization is key to ensuring your fish transition safely into their new aquatic environment. Always make sure to quarantine your fish if you're introducing them to a new home IF there are already fish there. In this case, these koi are the only ones in this pond that we built.
