Normally, we are here telling you to get your cracked, chipped, or damaged windshield fixed, but with the impending heat advisory, make sure the AC is working properly first, then contact us about that window. (Yes, we do work with all insurance companies.)

Here is what we are looking at with the weather:

* WHAT...Peak heat index values ranging from the upper 90s to lower
100s Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. Overnight lows in the low to
mid 70s will provide for limited nighttime relief from the heat.

* WHERE...Portions of north central, northeast, and northwest Ohio.

* WHEN...From 2 PM this afternoon to 8 PM EDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Hot and humid conditions will continue on
Thursday, and portions of the Heat Advisory may need to be
extended.

The answer depends on the chip’s size, depth, type, and location. Some damage can be repaired, while other damage affects the windshield in a way that makes replacement the appropriate option. We can look at the windshield to determine if it can be repaired or needs to be replaced.

We offer our condolences, too.

Fran and I offer our sincere condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Rittman Police Sergeant Scott Ries, who was killed in the line of duty last night while selflessly answering a call for help in Wayne County. Our hearts are also with the other law enforcement officers who responded to last night's emergency, particularly the other officers injured while working to protect the citizens they serve. We commend Sgt. Ries and all the first responders involved for their courage. I have issued an order requiring flags to be lowered to half-staff on public grounds in Wayne County in honor of Sgt. Ries' life and heroism.
