We have seen widespread wind damage since Friday’s storm and many roofs are damaged which is clearly visible from the ground. The winds yesterday were pretty crazy! I can’t remember the last time I saw sustained winds at that speed for so long.

After big wind storm like yesterday, a lot of roofing companies come out of nowhere and suddenly start advertising free inspections, free tarps and other repairs.

Many of them are great companies who we respect.
But some are very new companies that started overnight with minimal experience or track record of helping homeowners.

Before you hire anyone, take a minute and check a few things:

✔ Google Them
Make sure the company is established online with a strong review history and has a strong presence (BBB, Thumbtack, etc)

✔ Experience
Roofing mistakes or shortcuts can lead to leaks and expensive interior damage later.

✔ Local Reputation and Presence
Companies that have been serving the community for years usually have a track record homeowners can verify.

A good rule of thumb: If a company has very few reviews or you can’t easily find them online, their Facebook doesn’t have much on it take a little extra time to research before signing anything.

Your home is typically one of your biggest investments — it’s worth making sure the company working on it is trustworthy, professional and local.
