When Should You Actually Start Planting in Michigan? 🌷🧤

We’ve all had that "April Fools" moment where it’s 70 degrees on Monday and snowing by Friday. If you’re itching to get your hands in the dirt, here is the **KS Landscaping** guide to timing your garden right so you don’t lose your investment to a late frost.

1. The "Right Now" List (Late April/Early May)
You don’t have to wait for the heat to start! "Cool-season" plants actually prefer these chilly nights. Get these in the ground now:
* **Flowers:** Pansies, Violas, and Snapdragons.
* **Veg:** Spinach, Kale, Peas, and Onions.

2. The Danger Zone (Early to Mid-May)**
This is the hardest time to wait, but Grosse Ile and Downriver can still get a surprise frost. If you plant your annuals (like Petunias or Marigolds) now, keep a stack of old sheets or frost blankets ready to cover them at night.

3. The Green Light (After Memorial Day)**
This is the "Safe Zone." Once we hit the end of May, the soil is finally warm enough for the "Divas" of the garden:
* **Tropicals:** Hibiscus and Palms.
* **Heat-Lovers:** Tomatoes, Peppers, and Zinnias.
* **Basics:** Most hanging baskets and porch pots are safe to stay out 24/7.

**Pro-Tip from the KS Crew:** Check your soil moisture! If you squeeze a handful of dirt and it stays in a tight, muddy ball, it’s too wet to plant. Wait until it crumbles slightly so your roots can actually breathe.

**Need a hand getting your beds prepped, mulched, or planted?**
We’re out in the neighborhood all week. Shoot us a message or give the office a call to get your property on the schedule!

**The Secret Behind the Stripes: Elevate Your Curb Appeal 🏠🌱**

There’s nothing quite like pulling into your driveway and seeing those crisp, clean **professional stripes** stretching across the lawn. But at **KS Landscaping**, we know that a great stripe isn’t just for looks—it’s the sign of a healthy, well-maintained estate.

**How do we get that "Big League" look on Grosse Ile?**

* **Precision Mowing:** Our equipment uses specialized rollers to "bend" the grass blades. When the grass leans toward you, it looks dark; when it leans away, it reflects the light and looks light. That contrast is what creates the "wow" factor!

* **Alternating Patterns:** We change our mowing direction every week. This prevents "rutting" and ensures your grass grows upright and strong, rather than leaning permanently in one direction.
* **Sharp Blades, Every Time:** A clean cut is the difference between a vibrant green stripe and a dull, brown edge. We sharpen our blades daily to protect your lawn from disease.

**Why Stripes Matter for Your Property:**
Beyond the aesthetics, professional striping is the ultimate "curb appeal" booster. Whether you’re maintaining your forever home on the island or prepping a property for the market, a striped lawn tells the neighborhood that every detail of your home is cared for.

✨ **Want your lawn to look like a fairway?**
Our 2026 spring and summer schedules are filling up fast across **Downriver** and **Grosse Ile**.
