So you can’t smell them to know why I’m excited, but I’ll share with you that I acquired an outdoor cabinet this spring that works great as a smoker. I’ve been practicing and it has taken my smoke game up a notch. So now, in addition to the applewood smoked sea salt and the Himalayan smoked salt that are already out on my tables, I’ve just finished three new batches. The brand new batch of bourbon smoked black pepper is really fragrant and I think that you are going to love the flavor of this! Plus brand new batches of never before sold (by me at least) smoked garlic and smoked hot pepper blend that will be carefully blended with other spices to enhance the aroma and create blends to tease your tastebuds.

What do you think, should I also smoke some basil? Sweet potatoes? If I make a smoked sweet potato and apple blend, would you want it? Sounds good to me!

My next show is at City High on November 7. Bonus free package of small tea to anyone who reads all the way down to the end of this post, meets me at that show, and tells me which plant is pictured in the last photo of this post. Come find me and run me out of tea! It’ll make my day 🫖

Been working on some new styles of artwork. I don’t have pictures of most things yet but these are beautiful! And you will love them. Plus buckthorn makes a gorgeous green dye. The pinned list of shows is updated for the rest of the year too! I really hope to see you soon. Remember to make a request if you want me to bring something special.

My current menu! Look at the comments under each picture. As a reminder I don't restock every recipe I make, and even my favorite recipes often vary from one month to the next as I continue to make things better all the time. This post is current as of the date of writing (7/29/26) and I can't promise that what's available now will always be available.

It's been an insane year, y'all, but I'm going to make an attempt to post more often. A mixed feature of what I've been up to: canning corn for the family, which caused me to learn that cornhusk makes the best paper I've ever made to date, I am so geeked about corn husk paper you need to come find me and feel the soft texture of this stuff compared to other handmade paper. Two new chai blends, Tutti Frutti and Apricot Orange, which I am confident you will love; and a really good turnout of the new marigold dye on some cotton totes!

We are at the Ga***rd Alpenfest this week and the air quality is not the greatest. In addition to masking up, (wow does that feel odd to return to after a few years) I am putting together a tea from herbs I have in the booth to give my lungs and throat a fighting chance. I’m so grateful I have ready access to these plants I’ve gathered and thankful for my teachers for the skills to put them together. The picture is from noon yesterday; there’s no weather, that is all wildfire smoke.

Harvesting bark: while there are exceptions to this rule most of the time the useful bark section is the cambium, or the middle layer below the outer bark and the wood. Generally it’s not necessary and certainly not wise to harvest from the main trunk of most trees when a branch is just as good. Here’s an example. Remember though that there are always exceptions and this describes a general rule rather than a hard and fast certainty.
