Yadkin County in northwestern North Carolina...
Grayson County in southwestern Virginia...
* Until 300 AM EDT Sunday
* At 855 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated showers and a few
thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area.
Additional very heavy rain is expected heading into the early
morning hours of Sunday. Flash flooding is expected to begin
shortly.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
North Wilkesboro...
Elkin...
Wilkesboro...
Fairview...
and Yadkinville.
Excessive rainfall over the warned area will cause mud slides near
steep terrain. The mud slide can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and
other loose materials.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding,
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather Service
