Top dressing in March, April, May, and October. Pricing starts at $45 per cubic yard, customer to purchase materials separately. If you provide the people to shovel, then $25 per cubic yard. Aslo, have a seeder attachment to spread seed if you desire.

Looks like we may have an early start this year with the soil temperature rising almost 10-11 degrees our 10-year average. I know the weeds are always the first to take off if you forgot to put down pre-emergent. Check out your soil temperature for your area and hopefully all the gardeners are ready as well.

So if you are thinking of seeding the last two weeks of September are looking like ideal temperatures for growth, while giving you at least 40 days for good growth if the weather model predictions are accurate.

Soil temperatures, watering, aeration, and top dressing services.

Soil temperatures for warm weather grass is optimal for growth between 75-90 for us. I like this website https://www.greencastonline.com/tools/soil-temperature

We are in still in the growing phase but we all know the temperature will continue to rise. Not an ideal time for seeding, but if you plan on doing SOD you still have a good chance for strong root development in my opinion.

Watering - this website provides a great way to determine proper water amounts. Which is usually 1 inch per week.

Aeration - a service I offer and if you look at the forecast we have a good chance for rain and plus you could put down other amendments and have them watered in. Minimum charge is $75 for 10k sq ft.

Top dressing season will resume late October if you want to add soil, sand, or a compost mixture. Why is it not offered, because that service adds components to the surface and will usually match the ambient air temperatures and with real feel temperatures it will exceed the optimal growth zone for warm season grasses and inhibit growth.

Spring has sprung when you look outside you are going to see the signs all around you. Even though the green colors are popping out now is the best time for soil samples to figure out what you can add or subtract to get your lawn for the growth period which is coming in the next month. Soils temperatures ideally for Bermuda and St. Augustine are 65 and for Zyosia is 70.

When you are in that temperature is a good time to call me for aeration, lawn leveling, or soil/compost addition. Do not use daily temperatures to predict soil temperatures. Another season is upon us. While it is not a service I offer I would recomend everyone to treat for weeds before the grass has to compete with them to grow. I use the schedule Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, and Labor Day. Please keep in mind soil temperature usually has to be above 50 degrees and consistent for the week before and after application.

The toughest part about fall aeration is enduring the heat from summer to pull good cores from a lawn. So if your watering scheduled has slacked up now is the perfect time to get back on track. Temperatures are expected to be above normal for the next week as well. October is the last month to top dress your lawn as well. You could either add nutrients or level out your lawn.

My initial concern would be the smell, but the dog showed no interest in the lawn nor could I when I was pouring it into the sprayer. Just realized I have not been posting on my page. Whoops.

The lakes are full, the ground is saturated, and I think if I have to pick up another limb/tree from the yard I think it will scream. Why? The new dog I have likes to visit the fallen limbs and leaves more than a trace. If you know, you know.

Anyways, needless to say the aeration business has been sparse since the ground is saturated, and running a 1,00 pound aerator across it is not the best decision. So, in the spirit of trying to get some yards done on Friday and Saturday I will offer a special for 7 cents a square foot. If you have been considering it, now is the time. Thanks.
