Leaves Collecting in Your Gutters 🍂🍁🍂
The first signs of fall are wonderful. The air crisp and the leaves changing color. It's always a beautiful thing!

Now that the leaves are consistently falling, they are building up inside and on your gutter guards.

When gutters are filled with leaves, the rain doesn't drain properly. Gutters ABSOLUTELY will overflow and the water eventually causes damage to walls, soffits, fascia, siding, basements, and even your foundation over time.

You are causing such dismay,

Don't let the cooler weather stop you from tending to your yard! Do not LET IT GO!
Grass continues to grown up to the first hard frost, it's important to maintain 2½- to 3-inch height. If you let it get too long, it will mat and be vulnerable to fungi like snow mold. (EW!) Cutting grass too short is just as bad, because it curtails the root system—root depth is proportional to cutting height—and impedes the lawn's ability to withstand winter cold and dryness. Regular mowing also gets rid of some of those pesky leaves. Make sure you aerate and seed your lawn to help correct drainage problems and thicken up your lawn for the following Spring! I woke up this morning and forgot which side the sun rises ☀️from, then it dawned on me....🤪

Why is Aerating My Lawn Important?

No matter where you are, aeration will benefit your lawn. After harsh winters❄️☃️🌬 and hot heat stressed summers🔥☀️🥵 in the North, soil can get compacted. This reduces root growth and keeps nutrients from getting down into the soil. Aerating your lawn loosens up the soil, allowing the turf to breathe and obtain access to what it needs: water, fertilizer and seed. 🌱💦🍽
It also provides more room for the roots to grow deeper and stronger. 💪
The process of aerating your lawn loosens the soil compaction by poking holes in it and then pulling the plugs or cores out.
This opens up the soil and allows the plugs or cores to loosely dissolve back into the ground with rain preparing you for a stronger more beautiful turf, the following season.😍

GUTTERS- Did you forget HOW IMPORTANT THEY ARE?

Gutters- When neglected, it's as bad as ignoring a cavity!

They control the flow of rainwater to protect your ENTIRE HOUSE! Yep, that's right! roof, walls, foundation and landscape. When neglected, gutters can turn to a nightmare.🌧👿🤑

Clogged gutters lead to a HOST of problems. Interior/Exterior water damage, mold and wonderful homes for rodents!
🐭🦇 Ew!

Even if you have gutter guards, it's important to clear the debris and dirt that collects in the gutters. "Leaf"ing👈🍂🍁😎 (you see what I did there?) your gutters abilty to remove water freely from the home.

Autumn is here with its cooler temperatures and rainfall this is the ideal time to prepare your lawn for next spring.
Most homeowners think that this is the time you can forget about the lawn and that it needs less care. Nope! In fact, it's quite the opposite!

This is the time those little green blades 🌾🌞and roots are busy collecting nutrients, moisture and all the goodies needed for you to enjoy a healthy plush lawn next Spring. (Sort of how I start enjoying those little holiday goodies from now until Spring that makes me a little- well, 🤔 extra plush!😂)

Anyway, the best thing to do is prepare your lawn by aerating it so that oxygen, water, and fertilizer can easily reach the grass's roots.

So make sure you keep your lawn healthy and vibrant this fall folks and enjoy the beauty that surrounds you!

Now that we have adapted to the transition into fall and Sunday football, it's time to re-evaluate our yards.

Before you start putting together any fall landscaping ideas big or small- make sure your yard is completely prepped for fall and winter.

Make sure you aerate and seed your lawn.
This will help break up compressed soil so nutrients and water can reach it better. Fertilize. It's still important to feed your lawn. You still eat don't you?

Any plants that are already starting to die back for winter, be sure to trim back the proper branches as needed. This keeps your plants healthy and your home safe.

BLOW OUT AND WINTERIZE YOUR IRRIGATION!
If you happen to have an irrigation system and you don’t plan on using it in the fall, be sure to dry out the lines. One solid freeze and your pipes can burst leaving with you needing to replace them in the spring.

Now onto the fall landscaping ideas. Fall is a fantastic time to bring out your containers and fill them up with colorful plants. This makes it easier in the winter to bring any plants in that might not do well with super cold temperatures. You can stagger the heights of the plants to give everything a multi-dimensional look. Pansies always brighten up any pot and can usually handle very cold temperatures. Plant trees and shrubs in the fall like Japanese Maples to provide beautiful branch ornamental interest in the winter and color the rest of the seasons.
