We always recommend that painting be one of the LAST things done during a renovation—after the other contractors are finished, and yes, that includes your flooring.

This project is a perfect example of why.

In this case, our customer didn’t have a choice and needed to have the painting completed before the new floors went in. Unfortunately, during the flooring installation, the freshly painted walls and trim took some damage.

Now we’ll need to come back to make repairs and touch everything up—which means an added expense that could normally be avoided.

So even if your flooring contractor tells you it’s fine to paint first, our recommendation is to wait. New floors can be protected. Freshly painted walls are a lot harder to protect from tools, materials, and people working in tight spaces.

Save yourself the touch-ups (and the extra bill 😉) and schedule your painter last.
