🚨 WINTER STORM PARKING BAN 🚨

❄️ The Town of York, Maine will have a parking ban in effect
🕕 From 6:00 PM tonight (Sunday, 1/25/2026)
➡️ Through 6:00 AM Tuesday, 1/27/2026

🚫 No parking on any public ways during this time.
🚗 Vehicles parked on the roadway may be towed at the owner’s expense and are subject to a fine.

🗑️ Trash Update:
🚛 Monday’s trash pickup is canceled and will be rescheduled for Saturday, 1/31/2026.

Please plan accordingly and help keep roads clear for plowing and emergency vehicles. Stay safe! ❄️🚓

RELEASE DATE: September 15, 2023
SUBJECT OF RELEASE: Severe Storm Warning

🚧Due to the impending storm, the Town of York is expecting closures of low-lying coastal roads (Long Beach Avenue, Ocean Avenue and potentially others) due to forecasted storm surge and coastal splash-over during the mid-day/daylight hours on Saturday, September 16. This is particularly likely surrounding the 12:45PM high tide on Saturday afternoon. Please observe any and all road closure signs you encounter and remember that they are there for your safety. Avoid driving through standing water, as vehicles can be swept away in moving water and roads covered by water are prone to collapse. 🚧

Tropical storm force winds (30-60 mph) are also expected consistently during this storm. These winds may cause property damage, especially from downed trees and limbs. Power outages should be expected and due to the high number of expected power outages across Eastern portions of the state, extended power outages are a distinct possibility. Please prepare for outages and severe wind accordingly such as:
- Having an emergency preparedness kit available
- Inspecting and fueling your generators
- Charging electronics and flashlights
- Securing all loose outdoor items (trash barrels, outdoor furniture, flags, etc.)
- Ensuring vehicles are fueled
- Plenty of non-perishable provisions are available

🚫Per the Beach Ordinance, due to the projected winds, dangerous surf and storm surge, the Town has ordered the CLOSURE of all beaches in York: Long Sands Beach, Short Sands Beach, Cape Neddick Beach, and Harbor Beach (including bathhouses/restrooms) from midnight on Saturday, September 16 to sunrise on Sunday, September 17. Water Rescue by local, state, or federal emergency responders will most likely not be possible during this storm – For your safety, we strongly urge you to: STAY OFF THE BEACHES AND AWAY FROM THE OCEAN! 🚫

All Special Events and sports activities scheduled for Saturday have been either cancelled or rescheduled for safety reasons.
- Mount A. Trail Challenge; Postponed to September 30
- Walk to End Alzheimer’s; Cancelled
- Art in the Park; Postponed to September 17
The Mount Agamenticus gate, along with Sohier Park (Nubble Light) will be closed at sunset on Friday, September 15 through sunrise on Sunday, September 17.

Green with Envy Landscaping is seeking experienced full-time lawn mowing and landscape crew personnel who are responsible, professional, hardworking individuals with strong work ethic, and EXCELLENT attention to detail.

Multiple positions available:

Mowing Crew

Gardening/Maintenance Crew

Landscape Installation Crew

Applicants must have:

Experience preferred but willing to train the right candidates
Walker mower and string trimmer experience preferred
Have general knowledge of power equipment use
Valid Driver's license and reliable transportation
Able to work 40 hrs. per week and overtime during peak seasons
