Today, April 19, 2023, the OKC metro has experienced widespread hail damage.

Hail Storm Home Insurance Tips

1) Wait to file your claim until a licensed roofer has inspected your roof. Even though you received hail,make sure you know your roof’s condition and extent of damage.

2) Most insurance companies count claims that are filed ( regardless of payment) and may affect you insurability in the future. A reputable roofer can share valuable information and assist you with deciding to file a claim.

3)Know your deductible. Your wind/hail deductible will apply. It’s typically 1% or 2%of the insured value stated in your policy.It could be more or less.

4) Work with a reputable local roofer you know and trust. Ask for credentials. If it is not an emergency be patient and shop smart.

5) Generally, you have one year to complete the repair starting once the claims adjuster has approved your claim.
