We are seeing this in yards already this year. Please remember to not mow too short, do not mow when wet, and clean your mower inside and out to avoid spreading through the lawn. Also change watering habits if possible. The grass isn't dead down to the roots but will take time to recover.
Do you see this in your lawn?
You may think this is fertilizer burn but it isn't. This is known as
Ascochyta leaf blight. This happens due to hot, dry weather followed by cool, rainy conditions.
It can be spread via foot traffic, rain and lawnmowers. Do not mow areas that have this otherwise it can spread throughout!
Recommendations:
Water consistently
Maintain proper mowing of 3" or higher, using sharp mower blades and not mowing when temperatures are past 85. Also avoid mowing during wet conditions.
This rarely causes permanent damage to the lawn and will typically recover within a few weeks when proper maintenance is implemented.
