At dawn, the Hon Khoi salt fields near Doc Let turn into shallow mirrors of sky and sea, geometric pools stretching to the horizon. This stretch produces about a third of all of Vietnam's salt, and the harvesters here are mostly women, moving in rhythm with bamboo poles balanced across their shoulders, mounds of white salt rising higher as the sun climbs. The early light is soft and golden against the pale crystal fields, and this exact scene has long been a favorite subject among photographers, drawing award-winning shots in competitions both in Vietnam and abroad — the reflections, the labor, the textures of salt and water all coming together in a single frame. Just beyond, the pale sand and jade water of Doc Let beach offer a quieter, complementary shot to close out the morning.

Narrow alleys come alive with people buying breakfast, vendors arranging fresh produce, bicycles weaving through the lanes, and locals gathering over steaming bowls of pho or cups of strong Vietnamese tea.

The bustling neighborhood markets are a feast for the senses, filled with vibrant fruits and vegetables, flowers, meat and seafood, while tiny breakfast stalls and sidewalk tea shops become natural stages for candid moments and genuine human interaction.
