Dự án Define Apartment tập trung vào giải pháp tái cấu trúc không gian nhằm tối ưu công năng và giải phóng tầm nhìn. Bảng màu trắng được sử dụng làm nền, kết hợp các điểm nhấn chi tiết màu đen nhằm tạo nên một không gian tối giản nhưng không đơn giản, vẫn đảm bảo đầy đủ chức năng. Mọi chi tiết đều được tinh lọc để loại bỏ sự phân tán thị giác, giữ cho kiến trúc đóng vai trò như một lớp nền trung tính thay vì trở thành đối tượng thu hút.

Định hướng cốt lõi của không gian là nhường sự hiện diện cho ánh sáng. Tổng thể căn hộ được thiết lập như một bối cảnh tĩnh, hướng toàn bộ điểm nhìn vào ánh sáng thay đổi trong ngày và các tác phẩm nghệ thuật cá nhân. Define Apartment vì thế trở thành nơi ánh sáng là chất liệu kiến tạo cảm xúc, chuyển dịch trạng thái sống giữa ban ngày và chiều tối.

The Define Apartment project focuses on a spatial restructuring solution to optimize functionality and maximize views. A white color palette serves as the foundation, paired with black detailing accents to create a space that is minimalist yet far from simple, ensuring complete functionality. Every detail is meticulously refined to eliminate visual distractions, allowing the architecture to act as a neutral backdrop rather than the center of attention.

At its core, the spatial design prioritizes the presence of light. The entire apartment is established as a static context, directing all visual focus toward the shifting light throughout the day and personal artworks. Consequently, Define Apartment becomes a space where light acts as a material that shapes emotions, seamlessly transitioning the living atmosphere between day and dusk.

Beyond Design: Building a Profitable Practice

Tại sự kiện iDAC tại Ấn Độ vừa qua, KTS Nguyen Hoang Manh đã chia sẻ một chủ đề mà có lẽ nhiều kiến trúc sư từng trăn trở nhưng ít khi được thảo luận một cách thẳng thắn: Liệu thiết kế tốt có đủ để xây dựng một công ty kiến trúc thành công?

Thực tế cho thấy, nhiều studio sở hữu những công trình chất lượng, được ghi nhận bởi các giải thưởng và truyền thông quốc tế, nhưng vẫn gặp khó khăn trong việc duy trì tăng trưởng bền vững.

Thông qua những trải nghiệm thực tế từ hành trình phát triển của MIA Design Studio trong 23 năm, bài chia sẻ đề cập đến bốn yếu tố quan trọng giúp một studio phát triển lâu dài: Định vị rõ ràng, Tạo những giá trị vượt lên cả thiết kế tốt, Xây dựng mối quan hệ khách hàng bền vững và Phát triển hệ thống vận hành vững chắc.

Why do many good architects struggle to build profitable practice?

At the iDAC event in India, Architect Nguyen Hoang Manh shared a topic that many architects experience but rarely discuss openly: "Is good design enough to build a successful architectural practice?"

The reality is that many studios produce excellent work, gain international recognition, and receive prestigious awards, yet still struggle to achieve sustainable growth.

Drawing from MIA Design Studio’s 23-year journey, the presentation explored four key pillars that help transform a design-focused studio into a resilient and sustainable practice: Clear positioning, Value creation beyond design, Long-term client relationships, and System development.

Because architecture is not only about designing buildings.
It is also about designing how a practice operates, evolves, and creates lasting value for clients, communities, and future generations.
Good design starts a studio. Strong practice makes it last.

Xuất phát điểm của dự án là bài toán tái cấu trúc để tạo nên một không gian ẩm thực phản ánh tinh thần của mô hình chợ và hàng gánh Việt Nam, nơi ranh giới giữa chế biến và thưởng thức được xóa bỏ. MIA đã tổ chức lại không gian của dự án nhà hàng Lách Ca Lách Cách theo hướng mở, liên thông giữa khu vực ngồi và quầy pha chế, tạo nên trục nhìn thông suốt, nơi ánh sáng tự nhiên và gió được khai thác triệt để. Hệ vách ngăn di động bằng kính ép vải được thiết kế như một yếu tố kiến trúc linh hoạt, cho phép điều chỉnh không gian theo nhu cầu sử dụng. Chi tiết này hoạt động như một màng lọc thị giác linh hoạt: vừa phân định công năng khi cần thiết, vừa duy trì sự llền mạch của ánh sáng và mở rộng không gian cho các hoạt động phục vụ.

Về vật liệu, sàn và quầy được xử lý đồng bộ với nhịp gạch, tạo nên sự đồng nhất, kết hợp cùng bề mặt thô mộc, đưa cảm giác phóng khoáng của không gian bên ngoài vào trong không gian nội thất.

Đây là một dự án MIA chuyển hóa ký ức tập thể về chợ Việt thành ngôn ngữ trong không gian. Nhà hàng Lách Ca Lách Cách là sự giao thoa giữa truyền thống và hiện đại, thiết lập một mô hình trong việc tái cấu trúc không gian thương mại, nơi kiến trúc không chỉ đáp ứng chức năng mà còn là phương tiện kết nối văn hóa, con người và ký ức.

The starting point of the project was a spatial restructuring problem, to create a dining environment that reflects the spirit of Vietnamese market stalls and street vendors, where the boundary between preparation and consumption is dissolved. MIA reorganized the layout of Lach Ca Lach Cach Restaurant toward an open configuration, with the seating area and bar counter connected in a continuous flow, establishing a clear sightline throughout the space where natural light and ventilation are fully utilized. The movable partition system, constructed from fabric-laminated glass, functions as a flexible architectural element that allows the space to be reconfigured according to operational needs. It acts as a visual filter: defining zones when required, while maintaining light continuity and expanding the space for service activities.

In terms of materiality, the floor and counter surfaces are treated as a unified whole through a consistent tile rhythm, creating a seamless quality throughout. Combined with raw, unfinished surfaces, the interior takes on the openness and ease typically associated with outdoor spaces.

Lach Ca Lach Cach is a project in which MIA translates collective memory of the Vietnamese market into spatial language, where tradition and contemporary practice intersect, and where architecture serves not only function but also as a means of connecting culture, people, and memory.
