Project: Skyscraper Concept

On a very difficult site - a narrow, long triangle plot - we designed a high-rise building that makes maximum use of the site and at the same time represents a new landmark for this still new and faceless district in Prishtina - a new Flatron Building, so to speak. The new landmark is located at the most important intersection and represents the entrance to the new district.

In addition to its special shape, its construction is its most important feature. The structure is turned outwards, forming a framework that also functions as a façade. In combination with the core, it is especially well suited to this seismic zone.

In the middle of one of the most prestigious villages in Germany, this villa was planned for a family with three children. The hillside location on one of the most famous lakes in Germany, Lake Starnberg, did not make this task any easier. Despite the legal requirements (main volume and shape were prescribed), it is a modern and open house that can be experienced and divided very well by creating different zones.

Starting with a spacious, multi-level foyer connected vertically by the open gallery, the house appears one floor larger than it is because the basement is involved. A continuous L-shaped closet accommodates all utility rooms and simultaneously separates them from the open-plan living areas. This is completely open plan but also arranged in an L-shape, allowing zones to be defined. The living area is made slightly larger by a recess, while from the dining room we can exit onto the very deep balcony, which serves like a spacious additional room.

The absolutely special feature of the house is the covered balcony, snatched by a legal trick, with the fantastic and scenic view of the lake and the integrated pool - which in turn interacts with the living room.

In an invited competition with a few but very famous architects we emerged as the winner and are currently allowed to build the house in a slightly modified form - in consultation with the owners and their very special wishes.

Year: 2022-23

In the famous Portuguese surfer place Moledo at the border to Spain a small settlement for surfers and small families is to be built. We have adapted our concept from the Hunsrück National Park a bit to the requirements and from next summer the facility can be used.

The modular concept provides for the construction of two halfs - exactly oriented to the transport dimensions - which are assembled on site. The balconies and canopies in front are assembled on site using a plug-in system. In contrast to Hunsrück, the bungalows are to be held in place by a U-shaped wall instead of the two point foundations. If required, this can also be used as a storage area or a sauna can be installed. Production will continue to be based on the Cradle2Cradle principle.

Construction will start this year. Installation on site will take place in 2023.

Additional office space was to be created quickly in the industrial area of a medium-sized German city. These could be implemented wonderfully due to the prefabricated construction method.

Depending on the transport dimensions (maximum width 2.44m and height 3.00m), 3 individual modules could be produced, which in turn were assembled on site. The construction is diffusion-open and despite a height of only 2.95m in the interior 2.40m high - as required by law in Germany. The entire construction has no iron components and is completely recyclable. The production took place in Kosovo.

Project: Modular Hunsrück

Year: 2022-23

In the middle of the nature reserve park, a bungalow settlement was to be built according to the wishes of the developer. Since building is not allowed there in principle, this presented the builders with an unsolvable problem. As a result, we have created a nature conservation concept that even the Minister of the Environment of the government from the Green Party now supports this project as a pilot project.

The modular concept provides for the construction of two halfs - exactly oriented to the transport dimensions - which are assembled on site. The balconies and canopies in front are assembled on site using a plug-in system. The big feature is that the bungalows are only supported by two point fundaments, thus reducing the soil load to zero. In addition, the bungalow modules are interconnected via a sophisticated technology concept and are thus completely self-sufficient. In addition, production will be carried out according to the Cradle2Cradle principle.
Construction will start this year. Installation on site will take place in 2023.

Project: Conversion of the old barn - IT10

In a former stable house or barn from 1793, which has been vacant for a very long period of time, apartments for elderly people and families are to be built while at the same time revitalizing the entire area around the old church.

In addition to the renovation of the partly ruinous, but overall well preserved building substance made of wood and brick or wooden beam ceilings, all later additions and extensions will be removed in order to restore the original form in the concept.

Also for financial reasons, the two halves will be highlighted again. Two multi-family houses, each consisting of three residential units, will be built from the two halves of the old barns as well as one side of the older extension on the street front, which may be designed over from a monument preservation point of view. The facades of the old barns were not allowed to be changed. The newer components are all clad in wood.

The resulting spaces are characterized by gentle changes to the exterior as well as relatively simple spaces in the interior, where the old wooden structure is once again highlighted. The existing axes are retained and will continue to form the new rooms - as in the old way. The new stair core will be made of concrete while the rest will be made of wood - even the load-bearing elements such as ceilings.

Despite the preservation and fulfillment of all monument protection guidelines, a new look is created where the modern and the old are joined together.

On a very difficult plot of land separated by a small river from the road, initially only a semi-detached house was allowed to be built, although the plot is very large.

After long discussions, the authorities could be convinced to allow a house for three parties, because the outer impression also fits very well into the village image and still looks very special.

The sliding volumes scale gives the impression of 3 single-family houses. The addressing of these is thereby also very well readable. Due to the special roof shape, the impression of a large volume is also not created. At the same time, the exterior space can be designed in an open and pleasant way and the parking spaces can be integrated.

The special roof shapes are directly connected and have a common water supply.At the same time, this is the method to circumvent specifications of the authorities and to be able to use the roofs better!

Project: A-shaped house

This house for a family with three children was planned on a slope in the forest and completely according to the principle of cradle to cradle (C2C) and circular construction. This is the crucial difference to the common efficiency strategy of avoid and reduce. Less bad is far from good.

If we make the C2C principles the basis of the plan, this means, in terms of the resources used, first of all to understand a building as a material bank in which investments are already made in the initial planning phase by means of intelligent raw material selection. Thus, even in the basic design, consistent circular thinking is inevitable. In the end, however, it is the interaction of the environment, building services and construction that is decisive in terms of cradle-to-cradle principles. Even the pool is integrated into this concept.

Our design for this four-bedroom house with a large and very high living and dining area with special views between the areas is set in a clearing in this forest. In addition to its special appearance the house also stands out for its special construction, which of course naturally pleased the client.
