The experiences that come with industrial applications is very important to a residential electrical inspection. In industry the demand on the electrical system is high resulting in increased stress on wiring systems. This increased stress over a short period of time mimics the long term use of residential wiring systems. The number of repairs made and faulty electrical devices seen in one week as an industrial electrical technician can equal that of 6 months electrical service calls seen by a residential electrician. Seeing the causes of multiple electrical fires with-in an industrial facility led me to begin researching electrical fires in residential properties. I uncovered documentation that proved there had been concerns by the Consumer Product Safety Commission about a style of electrical receptacle outlet. One of the benefits that I took from being an industrial electrical technician was the introduction to infrared thermal technology. Learning the benefits that infrared electrical inspections brought to industrial facilities I seen the advantages that infrared technology would have on the ability to reduce the number of deadly electrical fires that changes so many lives every year. This lack of concern leads to the deaths of hundreds every year and millions of tears from home owners that have lost everything. Todd again uncovered documents that shows the CPSC had had concerns about the lack of electrical inspections in older homes, but again nothing has ever been done about it.
