THIS FAMILY is "all in," having made their way from Mass., the Carolinas, Georgia, Ohio, or virtually any other state in the Union. They have made their way directly to the Chamber of Commerce to announce themselves, which seems appropriate enough since the Chamber has both seduced and solicited their participation in the upbuilding of a modern wonderland.

Although challenging to make out in the faded picture, any they had passed by along the journey's way would have seen quite clearly the words they have painted large on the side of their "motor home":

"WE ARE GOING
TO THE LAND OF
PALMS and SUNSHINE

- MIAMI, FLA."

IF anyone made light of folks so innocent and naive,
investing everything they had-- Hope, dollars, and dreams
to all begin anew, with a clean slate, in a place that just had to be better
--it had to be--

They would not be laughing for long. It was families like this one that helped Miami live up to its extravagant promises, and did so in a spirit of genuine humility.

So let's wish our recent arrivals a belated "Welcome," and with a hand shake, tell them truly "We are so glad you all have come."
