Soon as you start buying your first load of Sand or concrete, you’ve already started building. A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step!!! I always encourage people; get the entire quote for building, and ration it in feasible phases.
1. Planning & Design – Budget, drawings, approvals, and site preparation.
2. Foundation – Excavation and laying the foundation.
3. Structure – Walls, columns, beams, and roof installation.
4. First Fix – Plumbing, electrical, and other internal services.
5. Finishes – Plastering, ceilings, tiling, painting, and cabinetry.
6. Second Fix – Light fittings, plugs, taps, doors, and fixtures.
7. External Works – Paving, boundary walls, landscaping, and drainage.
8. Final Inspection & Handover – Snag list, corrections, and occupation.
Yes! It’s important to know how much the entire project will cost, after you know the total amount, I prefer breaking it down, ask your contractor to only do the first part, you pay, when done, you take a break, and gather enough funds for the second phase, so on and so forth, in no time; you’ll realise you’re done miraculously, also never put pressure on yourself, building is a personal project not a group assignment, be realistic with your income and means, you’ll die of depression if you keep keeping up with the Jones…😜
