Painting in Bathurst
Roger Purdon was born and raised in the small farming village of Bathurst. Better known today for its creative community, when Roger grew up it was nothing more than pineapple fields. He was one of the first creative spirits to find his inspiration in the local wildlife and the nearby ocean and fishing boats at Port Alfred.
After a lifetime spent making a living through commercial art, drawing house plans and a few other “commercialised” ventures along the way, Roger has now dedicated his life to his craft full time.
70 years of painting have taken Roger through numerous painting styles, mediums and themes. Currently, he is working on a wildlife exhibition but is open to commissions in the style of your choice.
In addition to painting, Roger has a talent for cutting gentleman’s hair cuts and has been trimming the locks of the local farmers since he was a boy of ten. Feel free to pop in for a gents (or boy’s) haircut - but please be aware that Roger works in the traditional gentleman's’ styles (as first made popular in the 1950s), and is self-confessedly terrified of cutting ladies hair!
