Rumour has it that the temperature in GP is going down to -4 degrees C next week - on Tuesday! So this is an interesting number : minus 4 degrees. Our experience in GP over the last 20 years is that copper pipes freeze (overnight) when the night temperature dips to -3 and beyond. This used to bring a stream of work the next day that we were unable to cope with. But over the last 5+ years nothing. Maybe one or two. But it simply doesn't get that cold anymore.
So this, if it's accurate, is going to create problems for everyone with vulnerable copper pipes - in the roofspace - particularly if the living space is insulated (pink and isotherm) or pipes outside. Even pastic ones.
THERE IS AN EASY FIX HOWEVER! Before you go to bed allow all your taps to DRIP! Briskly. Even if you "waste" 20 or 100l I promise you it's going to be worth it. Moving water doen't freeze :-)
Why am I telling you this? Because I am still going to be busy on Tuesday, Wedesday and Thursday with those who didnt get the message :-)
