I wonder how many more adults with healthy self esteems would exist if their strengths were publicly acknowledged in their school years, instead of only their challenges being emphasized in report cards?

I wonder how different the world would look if every school did something along these lines from Preschool to Matric?

This was my daughters Grade 1 Recognition Ceremony this morning.
Every child had the chance to stand up on stage and be acknowledged for their character growth and attributes they have displayed this year.

“I have found a gem in you.” These amazing teachers at this school take time to read out the “gems” and award each child with a “certificate” and a unique gem stone.

Educators, parents, sports coaches- we can all do this. It doesn’t take much time or effort to NOTICE and encourage- in the classroom, at home, on the sports field, in the corridor… It doesn’t even have to be in an official recognition ceremony…

EVERY child has awesomeness inside them. EVERY child deserves to have that awesomeness noticed. EVERY child deserves a moment to shine in the spot light. EVERY child deserves an adult who can see their incredible potential and ignite it within them.

EVERY child… When you look for the good, you WILL see it. Children see themselves through our eyes. And only when we see and recognize the amazing human beings they are, can they see it in themselves.

Just a few words… I wonder how different the world would be… It can be… It really is in your adult potential to make it so…
