ACCUSED SENTENCED FOR MURDER , ATTEMPTED MURDER, ARMED ROBBERY,MALICIOUS DAMAGE TO PROPERTY AND BUSINESS ROBBERY
BUSHBUCKRIDGE SAPS: Sifiso Shaka Mbowane(23) Residing at Shatale RDP's was found guilty and sentenced by the Nelspruit High court on Monday, 28 October 2024 .
It is alleged that, on 29 July 2023, The Accused found the complainant on the street in Orinoco trust where he produced a firearm took the complainants belongings and smashed his vehicle and tires. A case was opened against him.
On the 05 September 2023 at about 17:00 the accused went to Puma filling station in ga Bereta and found the two petrol attended and produced a firearm and shot one of them who sustained injuries and took cash from her. He further proceeded to the second victim and did the same and the Victim resisted which resulted to the accused shooting him dead and took the money from the victim's pocket. The deceased was identified as Nicolas Mashego of 52 years old. The Accused ran away after committing the crime.
On the same night at about 00:00,The Accused went to Swift filling station in ga Relane where he also produced a firearm and threatened the cashier and took the till contained money and left the scene.
All the cases were reported to the Police Station. The investigating team followed the lead until the 08 September 2023 when they arrested him. He was since denied bail on his first appearance and remained in custody until the 28 October 2024 when his sentence was handed down by the Magistrate in high Court Nelspruit.
The Accused sentence was handed down as follows:
The accused was found guilty on 06 Six counts.
Count 1- 15( fifteen) years imprisonment.
Count 2- 02( two) years imprisonment.
Count 3- 15 ( fifteen) years imprisonment.
Count 4- life imprisonment
Count 5- 08( Eight) years imprisonment.
Count 6- 15( fifteen) years imprisonment.
Bushbuckridge SAPS Station Commander welcomed the sentence and gave a round of appreciation to the investigating team who worked tirelessly in making sure that the accused is paying for his crimes and is removed from the community.
