Casa sublim // Xavier Corberó

On an eight acre piece of land situated in Esplugues a municipality in the suburbs of Barcelona is the home of Spanish sculptor Xavier Corberó.

the elaborate & playful forms which characterize the nine structures & courtyards which have been under construction since he acquired the land in 1968. These house work studios, living quarters as well as ten bedrooms & bathrooms which all adorn Corberó’s own work & acquired objects.

Sea Point apartment concept

We are developing a concept to renovate an existing bachelor apartment in Sea Point into a luxury 1 bedroom apartment for a couple who work from home & like to entertain guests every now & then.

Working with an existing 41sqm space we’ve moved the bedroom from an existing ‘sleeping nook’ to your left as you enter the apartment to the back of the apartment next to the bathroom where the kitchen is currently located.

The kitchen now takes up an entire wall of the living space running into what was the ‘sleeping nook’ which now is a fully ventilated space housing the cooking hob as well as a double workspace for the couple.

Róisín Machine // Róisín Murphy

Today marks the release of Róisín Murphy’s new album Róisín Machine made in partnership with longtime collaborator DJ Parrot also known as Richard Barret.

the depth & detail of the disco house influences paying homage to an earlier era with the standout track being the earlier released ‘Something More’. Speaking of the album Murphy said, “We need space for ‘mood’ & the ‘uncanny’ right now”, both concepts that can be used to inform interesting design.

Harrods installation // Casablanca

Tennis inspired Paris based lux leisurewear brand has curated a beautiful shop installation now in store located on the designer menswear floor.

the colour palette, finishes & furnishings used to compliment the brand inspired by the clay courts of Stade Roland Garros & the sun baked terracotta of North Africa. The rattan chairs with their dark timber frames speak to the aesthetic of old tennis rackets with the red of the carpet symbolizing the clay court.

Ivory // Cinga Samson

The New York Times described Cinga Samson as, "An artist who doesn’t want to feed Western fantasies about Africa". This is partly why this contemporary, South African artist.

His body of work resonates with us because of the deep moody colour palette portraying haunting portraits which challenge our stereotypes of Africa. We are inspired to create spaces that work in synergy with his paintings.

Sheats Goldstein residence // John Lautner

The Sheats Goldstein residence by architect John Lautner was completed in 1963, however, perfection takes time as it was current homeowner, James Goldstein, who bought the home in 1975 & embarked on a 15 year collaboration in an evolving process with Lautner from 1979 in order to maximize the full potential of this awe inspiring LA home.

the sculptural concrete soffit with it’s striking triangular forms spanning the width of the home & maximizing views out over the city of angels. This home is also a perfect example of blurring the threshold & maximizing inside / outside living something so many of us aspire to today. As testament to the theatricality of this design, you may recognise it from the countless music videos, fashion editorials and film and television productions shot there. As a result, this design has firmly placed itself within popular culture, transcending trends and eras.

Pine Tree Drive house // Studio MK27

Architect Marcio Kogan worked as a movie director before he founded Studio MK27 & theatre is evident in the design of Pine Tree Drive house in Miami.

the orientation of this home with the master bedroom at the front of the site & the living, dining & kitchen areas above maximizing the views of the creek. The guest bedrooms are along the back of the site running parallel to a 30x9m man made lagoon surrounded by vegetation with an elevated walkway snaking above.

The Factory // Ricardo Bofill

In 1973 Spanish Architect Ricardo Bofill embarked on the renovation of this cement factory in Catalonia, Spain.

the all white palette & full height soft furnishings on the backdrop of the original building with its abstract and brutalist elements & the introduction of multiple lush planted courtyards which now link a cathedral, model workshop, archive rooms, residence & studio for Bofill’s firm.
