A great week so far attending the Aquaconsoil conference in beautiful Prague. The venue for the conference this year was the Czech University of Life Science at their modern campus.

We attended several informative talks and presented our poster on the challenges and opportunities of installing the first steam-enhanced extraction system in South Africa.

It has been a great opportunity to catch up with our international clients, technology partners, and friends.

GeoRem will be attending the Aquaconsoil Conference in Prague next week.

AquaConSoil is a bi-yearly European event where scientists, policy- and decision-makers and industry representatives gather to learn, share, and engage in the sustainable use and management of soil, sediment, and water resources.

The team is looking forward to new insights and seeing our friends and colleagues!

The GeoRem and Aqua Earth teams decided to launch a park cleanup project in our Neighbourhood Park as part of our community involvement and development work.

On Spring Day the 1st of September we spent the morning cleaning the Fontainebleau park. All the company staff attended and were joined by our neighbours, ward councillor, Joburg City Parks Department, Security Companies, SAPS and Metro Police. Eight skips of waste was picked up and removed for safe disposal.

One of our teams recently wrapped up the injection of chemical reductants to treat Hexavalent Chromium in a shallow aquifer. The application was done by direct push utilizing one of our GeoProbe units. Grid injections targeted very specific zones to a depth of 9m in unconsolidated media. The injection was managed with our custom-built injection trailer and specialized injection tooling. The injection unit allows full control of the batching, mixing, and injection process. The PLC controls and tracks the volumes mixed, injection pressure, and volumes injected.

The GeoRem team spent last week on our yearly safety training block. Everyone did refreshers on First Aid, Firefighting and other areas like Working at Heights and Gas Testing.

As usual, we had a very informative and fun day out with the team from Titan Pro-Active Driving at Gerotek. Coaching and training all our drivers with our own company vehicles makes a huge difference and helps us to actively manage road travel, one of our greatest risks.

A few months back Georem conducted a 72hr Multi-Phase Extraction event. The aim of the 72hr event was to maximize the extraction of contaminated groundwater and vapour.

Approximately 6000lt of contaminated ground water was recovered during this period.
