Determining The Correct Roofing Fastener Length When Fixing into Timber Substrate.

Choosing your metal roof sheeting is just step one. The next big question: How long should your roofing fasteners be?
📌 For Pierced Fixed Profiles (Corrugated, IBR, Widespan): Minimum timber depth pe*******on recommended by Corroshield South Africa (CSSA) is 30mm.
Formula: Crest height + material thickness + minimum timber depth.

📌 For Concealed/Secret Fixed Profiles: These use a clip system.
CSSA recommends a minimum timber depth of 40mm.
Add the thickness of the concealed fix clip to the recommended timber depth.

Remember, if you're adding insulation over purlin, include its thickness in your calculations! And always measure from the underside of the fastener head to its tip.
