We were having a discussion about Greg’s experience in organ building and I just learnt that Gregory Van Schalkwyk was the first coloured organ builder. His 5 year training started in 1980 at Southern Organ builders.
We searched and asked around and could not find anyone who had his training as a coloured at that time. This was also an achievement as it was during the apartheid era.
