Your roof takes more sun than any other part of the house. It is also the part most people only look at when it starts leaking.

October is a good month to check it. The winter rain is behind us, and summer storms are still ahead.

What to look for:

✔ Faded, patchy colour on tiles or sheeting
✔ Green or black growth on cement tiles
✔ Rust spots on galvanised sheeting, especially at overlaps and screws
✔ Paint that is peeling or lifting

Your roof is the biggest painted surface on your property and the one you never actually look at.
