What a special evening it was last Thursday at the Cape Institute of Architecture Gallery, launching The Jo Fensham Yacht Furniture Design Prize 2026 alongside such a talented gathering of architects, furniture designers, interior designers, and members of Cape Town’s boatbuilding and design community.

This new Prize, created in collaboration with the Cape Institute for Architecture, invites Cape Town-based architects, interior designers, and industrial and product designers to explore the future of freestanding outdoor furniture for the yacht environment.

A morning well spent with women in marine

Today, the Jo Fensham team joined women from across the Cape Town marine industry for the Global Women’s Walk 2026.

At 7am, 125 women from 14 companies gathered at the V&A Waterfront to walk five kilometres together - a simple but powerful way to recognise the women contributing to boatbuilding, marine manufacturing, design, supply, operations and the wider ocean economy.

Cape Town’s weather may not have been ideal in the lead-up, but the energy this morning was fantastic. Trainers on, jackets zipped, and spirits high.

As a woman-founded and woman-owned business, Jo Fensham was proud to be part of this global initiative, walking alongside colleagues, clients, suppliers and industry friends.

Thank you to the organisers and every company involved for creating such a meaningful morning of connection, visibility and shared purpose.

This past Saturday, the Jo Fensham team took to the field at the 8th AMSOL Maritime Industry Soccer Tournament at Fives Futbol Club in Century City.

Hosted annually by African Marine Solutions (AMSOL), the tournament brings together companies from across the maritime industry for a day of friendly competition, team spirit and fundraising. This year’s event supported the important work of Sanccob Saves Seabirds , helping to rescue, rehabilitate and protect vulnerable seabirds, including the critically endangered African Penguin.

It was a fantastic day of sport, teamwork and family — with colleagues, partners and supporters coming together to enjoy time outside the workshop and celebrate the people who make our industry what it is.

Jo Fensham has developed its own proprietary Jo Fensham Digital Service (JFDS) for yacht upholstery and soft furnishings.

This means a vessel can be scanned once, digitally recorded accurately, and supported again in future with replacement cushions, covers or full remakes manufactured in Cape Town and shipped worldwide.

It is a smart, flexible and highly distinctive service that brings together digital precision, expert craftsmanship and long-term support.
